Failure

December 4, 2009 · 1 Comment

For once in my life, I thought I was able to do my parents proud by being able to move on to the University after Poly. However, my dreams are shattered since the moment I turned on my laptop to find out my exam reults.

I really have no idea what am I going to do next in life and am still in the state of confusion for now. All I know is, I have no one to blame but myself for not doing my best. I failed a bloody subject by 4 marks and with that 4 marks, I am unable to proceed further. Had I pushed mysef a little harder, I may now be rejoicing and enjoying my holiday tomorrow.

Oh well, no point crying over spilled milk and I hope to receive some good news next week

To all of my SIM classmates who have made it, CONGRATULATIONS and I wish you all the best in your future endeavours  :)

Belated Update

December 3, 2009 · Leave a Comment

With exams being over and blog revamped, I can finally do a proper entry. Here are some of the happening that happened for nearly the past month…

Fiona’s 21st Birthday at King Albert Park’s Mac

Who says revision week has to be dull and boring? Oh well, definitely not for my classmates and I. My classmates had planned a really interesting 21st birthday party for the birthday girl, Fiona. Celebrating someone’s birthday at Macs was something new and interesting to me as I have never been to one before, what more, a 21st birthday party there. Felt like a kid all over again as we sat on small chairs that could barely fit our butts and used the low tables for eating. The party brought back many childhood memories too as we played games such as musical chairs and blow wind blow.

Sending Alvin off at the Airport

The exams ended and the first person to enjoy his holidays is none other than Alvin. He was flying off to Macau on the same day as our last paper. Alvin sure is a lucky guy, with three girls sending him off for his holiday. Before sending him off, a bunch of us went to Shaw House to catch 2010. The movie was one of the best as I really enjoyed all the effects that was made to make the disasters look real. As much as I enjoyed the movie, there were some parts that seemed too unrealistic. Nevertheless, I still think it was worth the watch and money.

After sending Alvin off, the girls met up with Hangsen for a sumptious dinner at Cafe Oliv located at East Coast Road. As usual, the food that we ate was simply delicious and worth the money.

Body Worlds Exhibition and Science Centre

After seeing advertisments from the television and newspaper, I finally got the chance to visit the Body Worlds Exhibition that is held at the Science Centre with Desmond. For just $21, I was allowed to not only visit the exhibition but the Science Centre as well. Through the exhibition, I have gained some new knowledge on stuff that I have never knew before. I must say that the exhibition is a really good source of learning for children as they can get to see what is in the human body. Here are some videos that I have found on the net, do check them out.

As mentioned earlier, the admission fee of $21 consisted a visit to the Body Worlds exhibition and Science Centre. Didn’t get to spend much time exploring at the Science Centre as it was getting close to the closing time. Went to Dhoby Ghaut after that with Desmond to meet Marco and the rest and headed to Aston’s for dinner.

Just to side track a little, I am going to do a short review between two western food chains – Botak Jones and Astons. Tried Botak Jones some time back and it was quite a disappointment for me. Many people have claimed that Botak Jones sells delicious food. However, that didn’t seem to be the case for me. Botak Jone’s pricing is quite high for a place at a coffee shop but it’s serving is huge which makes one’s money worth. Astons, on the other hand, is cheaper and the environments is much better and the food is simply tasty. Therefore, I think Astons is a better choice compared to Botak Jones.

A trip to Batam

Made a one-day trip down to Batam, in Indonesia some weeks back with two of my aunts and my mum. Woke up really early that day so we could take an early ferry over and spend the entirely day there. When we arrived at Batam, we rented a taxi so that the driver could drive us around to shop and eat. Things sold at Batam may be cheap compared to Singapore. However, for the first time, I did not buy anything back as nothing there seemed to attract me.

For lunch, we our driver brought us to the Golden Prawn Batam restaurant. The food there was relatively cheap as expected and to my surprise, the dishes tasted much better than what I have expected. Among all the dishes that we ordered, I loved the hot plate toufu the most and it was definitely one of the best that I have eaten. Even though the things at Batam are really cheap, I doubt I will want to visit there again as there isn’t much to see or shop.

Sentosa Tanning + Class Chalet

Met up with Janice love and Meiyu for tanning at Sentosa before our class chalet. The sun was really strong in the beginning while we were travelling to Sentosa. However, the sun seemed to keep playing hide and seek with us once we were at Azzura getting all ready to tan. As expected, it started pouring like mad, bright powerful lightning could be seen and loud thunders could be heard. With the heavy rain, all we could do was chill in the shelter and start gossiping and chatting.

As the rain started to subside, the three of us took a walk to Sentosa Coasta Sands chalet to meet the rest of our classmates. We were then told that we had to move over to the chalet at Downtown East instead as the room at Sentosa was too cramped for our class.

See the picture right above? We were playing blackjack and the loser had to get whacked on the thighs. The guy sure didn’t show any mercy to the girls…quite a violent game but it was really fun.

Class chalet was really enjoyable and I am sure everyone had a great time. Would like to thanks those who were involved in marinating and bbq-ing all the food. With the wonderful chefs in our class, we were all able to enjoy great food during the bbq :)

4 guys and a girl

Had a day out with the guys. Since Alvin and Raymond was working, I had to meet up with Alastair and Hangsen first. Was about to leave the house to meet Alastair and Hangsen when it started to rain cats and dogs. The rain was so heavy that I couldn’t leave. After messaging the guys telling them I was going to be late, Hangsen called me saying that his dad could give me a ride. This sure helped save time and prevented me from getting wet in the rain so thank you, Hangsen :)

Since Alastair had a Takashimaya voucher, we accompanied him to see if there was anything that he could by. Alastair got himself a black jacket and I’ve got to admit, it looked really good on him. Went to Paragon’s Market Place to purchase some stuff and meanwhile, Alastair was playing with my iPhone’s camera and he took this shot…

This is taken using one of the applications. A polaroid camera application on iphone…cool right?

Had dinner at the Paradiz centre’s Japanese food court and followed by a durian supper at Geylang with the guys. Yummy, it has been a long time since I had durian and goodness, it felt like I was in heaven while eating them. Oh, and did I mention? I fell sick after eating too much of the durian (FYI: I am still sick now). That was the first durian outing I had with my clique and I am hoping that there is still more to come. Guys, will we?

Baby Issac :)
Introducing you a new addition to the NG family, baby Isaac. Have been wanting to see the little nephew some time back but with exams on hand, I was unable to until recently. Baby Isacc is a really cute and alert baby, not forgetting a chubby one too.

Malaysian Railway + Sentosa Outing

Went to explore the Malaysian railway at King Albert Park on Monday with the 2 ladies. There was nothing much to take/see so we were only there for about 10-20 minutes before we left. The girls were lucky to be able to pose for a photo on the track before the security started to warn them to move off. Within a minute or two, a train moved by and the train driver saw us and started waving at us.

Our initial plan was to visit the hortpark after the railway but it was drizzling so our plan was cancelled. Reached Harbourfront and made a sudden decision to hangout at Sentosa since the rain had stopped and the sky was clear. Chilled at Cafe Del Mar with the girls and took many photos at the same time. The weather was kind of humid even when the sun was not scorching hot so we ending up sweating.

After hanging out at Cafe Del Mar, we took a walk to see the Merlion and after awhile, it was getting dark and we were starting to feel bored so we ended the day at Vivocity :)

Gonna make a adrupt ending to this entry as I am feeling drowsy from the medication and I feel like sleeping.

Anyway, the next time I blog will probably be when I am back. I will be away from 5th-9th December for a cruise trip to KL and Phuket. Can’t wait to visit Phuket as it’ll be my first time there and I hope there’s alot of things for me to shop there too.

At the meantime, take care everyone. Drink lotsa water and have sufficient rest ok? The unpredictable weather is causing many people to fall sick :(
